Wenger: Those who pay your salaries come first

Wenger introduces his club vs country interjection in this World Cup season.

For those dreaming of saving themselves for the world's biggest stage, forget it, the club comes first. They are the one who pay the salaries and like every other employer, they demand performance. Fair enough.

Wenger mentions Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit as examples of players who managed to combine a successful club season with World Cup glory.

Yes. That Chelsea match looms large. Time to get those World Cup cobwebs out of the mind after international week. And those who do not perform, the bench awaits you.

"You have no respect from the manager if you don't do anything with your club and you have more chance of being on the bench than to play."

Arsenal will see a big part of their squad on display in the World Cup. Bendtner, RVP, Fabregas, Sagna, Gallas, and Clichy. Capello will also take Walcott and possibly Kieran Gibbs in the England squad.
