The quitting fever spreads: Steve Coppell resigns

What is with the English air?
Paul Robinson hangs up his boots after being named to the England squad, Wes Brown follows suit. Martin O’Neill walks out on Aston Villa, five days before the season opener and now it is Steve Coppell at Bristol City mere days into the new season announcing his resignation.
It was not a very auspicious start for Bristol City as they went down to Milwall, 0-3. David James had a pretty horrific debut. They also lost to second division, Southend in the Carling Cup, 2-3. Coppell was barely into his fifth month as Bristol’s manager.
Keith Millen, assistant manager takes over on a three year contract.
