Video: Chicharito's nose for goals: Man Utd 3 Chelsea 1

Man Utd won its 18th Community Shield which actually turns out to be a good predictor of who ultimately wins the Premiership. They beat Chelsea, 3-1 for the season's first silverware. Lots of sheep in the losing Chelsea squad.

And yes, once again, Chicharito was on the scoreboard this time bundling in Antonio Valencia's low slung cross with a variety of body parts after the Ecuadorian made Ashley Cole look sheepish. You know you have a clever goalscorer when Chicharito minimizes the danger of a handball getting his arm out of the way as the ball careens of his face.

Man Utd got the ball rolling from Valencia as Rooney makes Terry look sheepish. Getting to be a pattern for the Chelsea captain (video) and a clever finish by Berbatov making Hilario look sheepish too (video). Salomon Kalou pulled one back for Chelsea (video).

Paul Scholes played with intelligence and great awareness - there might be renewed calls for his comeback in the English squad which just looks pathetic in its present lack of creativity. Look at the way he picks out Rooney for United's first goal. Van Der Sar was brilliant. Man Utd's back line looked much sharper than Chelsea's. Sir Alex bestowed everyone with a beaming visage.

Daniel Sturridge was the best player on display for the Pensioners (shows how twisted times are when an Abramovich funded squad is called that). I think most of Chelsea is looking for Ramires whose bombing runs will make him lethal.

This Premiership season will be all about the defending and it is going to be an awful year for them. The team that makes the least mistakes wins.
