Pastore sets the tone for Juve’s 3-1 thrashing

The Serie has gone wild. Today’s match between Palermo and Juventus was a cracker with plenty of attacking football by both sides. However, Argentinian playmaker Javier Pastore caught the eye with his skill getting the first goal was all his after Marco Storari blocked Mauricio Piniella’s effort. The match was barely two minutes old. He almost got another but was denied by the upright.
Pastore was behind the second goal when his stinging shot was saved by Storari but Josip Ilicic pounced on the rebound to get the second goal. Cesare Bovo’s free kick went whistling past the wall and Storari to complete the humiliation.
Juve pulled one back through Vincenzo Iaquinta. But just like the previous two trips to the Stadio Olimpico, this too was won by Palermo. They have quite the hex going on there. Frustrating times for Luigi Del Neri who’s brought in gifted players like Milos Krasic, Fabio Quagliarella, and Simone Pepe but apart from a glimmer or two it is veterans like Del Piero and Iaqunita still doing the heavy lifting.
The Bianconeri slide down to 15th. At this point only Inter is living up to its reputation. The Rossoneri are 8th. Fiorentina and Roma are 18th and 19th respectively. It looks like the small clubs are doing well upending the big names.
