AS Roma's stunning comeback sinks Bayern

Two goals by Mario Gomez had Bayern sitting pretty at half time. However, the Rome side had other ideas as they clawed one back through Marco Borriello in a great bit of hustle. Late in the game, Daniele De Rossi guided a cross in for the equalizer.

Three minutes later Borriello was brought down for Francesco Totti, Roma's talisman to pull off a successful spot kick and snatch a memorable victory. The loss did not affect Bayern materially. They are already through to the next round but for Roma this win was yet more evidence of their all around resurgence. They are now firm favourites to finish second in Group E. And they are in fifth place in the Serie after flirting with relegation earlier in the season.
