2012 ACN: Equatorial Guinea doom Senegal, 2-1

What happened to the Taranga Lions? They went out with a whimper. One of the ACN's most formidable teams on paper boasting names like Demba Ba, Moussa Sow, Mamadou Niang, and Papiss Cisse, were unceremoniously dumped out by co-hosts Equatorial Guinea. The Lions lost their first encounter, 1-2 to the unfancied Zambians. This was a must win.

The Nzalang Nacionals were given the lead by Iban Randy Iyanga in the second half after which the Senegalese mounted a desperate rearguard action and a minute before close substitute Moussa Sow scored the equalizer. But there was added time heartbreak for his team when David Alvarez scored a 25 metre thunderbolt. Where was the defense?

The silver lining is the Toons get back Ba and new recruit Papiss Cisse ahead of schedule.
