Bayern crushed Hoffenheim, 7-1 this weekend with Mario Gomez scoring a hat trick. This time he went one better against Basel in the Champions League second leg as Bayern knocked in seven unanswered goals at the Allianz Arena.

The Arena is the venue for this years Champions League final. Maybe it was the thought it would be nice to feature in the final at home that spurred them to such scoring lengths.

Arjen Robben opened the scoring and also ended the rout with the final goal. Thomas Mueller was the other contributor. Franck Ribery was not a goalscorer but he easily had one of his best days as a malevolent force along the wings.

Bayern are now into the quarter-finals on a 7-1 aggregate. The team draw will take place sometime next week.
