Austria’s unusually excellent football stamps

When Austria were chosen to co-host the 2008 UEFA European Football Championships the Austrian Post Office produced a stamp that  was made from the same synthetic material as the tournament’s offical EUROPASS match ball.

This information and following image should have been posted on Soccerblog 5 years ago.However it’s never too late when it comes to love and philately.This is what that stamp looked like.

After that bit of philatelic excellence the Austrian Postal Department went on to further heights. They superimposed 48 images of a TV recording on a stamp and using something called lenticular technology allowed the viewer to see the legendary goal scored by Andi Herzog, Austria’s record-breaking international player – from three different angles
