Copa America 2015: Jeison Murillo’s goal sinks pathetic Brazil

Jeison Murillo’s 36th minute strike following a goalmouth scramble proved decisive. Brazil was second best and despite dominating possession were dire in creating goal scoring opportunities. On those rare occasions, their shooting boots were truly left behind home. The worst was Robert Firmino’s stratospheric blast after David Ospina’s dreadful mix up gifted him an open look at goal. The Colombians led by Juan Cuadrado were far more cohesive and threatening in front of goal. A completely different side from the one that lost to the Vinotintos.

To make matters worse, Neymar who had a poor game throughout, let his frustration get the better of him and his headbutt on Murillo was punished with a red card after the match was over. Colombia’s Carlos Bacca was also booked for pushing Neymar from behind. Brazil are now without their best player for their final match against Venezuela. More pertinently, they look like eleven individuals in search of a team.
