Liverpool scrape draw with Exeter

A second string Liverpool team huffed and puffed to avoid a third round FA Cup exit against fourth tier Exeter City – which,had it happened,would have been a first for Liverpool.

Tom Nichols scored for Exeter and Liverpool equalised about 3 minutes later when teenage striker Jerome Sinclair took advantage of hesitant defending to score.
Exeter went back in front when Lee Holmes put the ball past Liverpool keeper Adam Bogdan directly from a corner.. but Brad Smith scored the crucial equaliser midway 17 minutes before the end and earned a replay at Anfield.
