Ivan Perisic’s late winner gave Croatia an unexpected victory over Spain.
They top the group and Spain go second as a result.The upshot of the upset is that Spain will not have to play Italy in the quarterfinals in an early battle of heavyweights.
Croatia’s win is also a bit of a record as the last time Spain lost a game in the Euro Championships is way back in 2004. They ended a 12 year winning streak.
Not a good omen.
