Nobody would have thought at the start of the season that just ended that Borussia Dortmund would give Bayern Munich such a close fight for the title.
Bayern Munich had to wait for a 5 -1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in their last game to claim the title.Had they lost that game Dortmund,who won their last game over Borussia Monchengladbach would have been crowned Bundesliga Champions.
At one stage Dortmund had a nine point lead over Bayern.
But it was not to be .
They ended up also rans.Not spectacularly well playing also rans like Liverpool but also rans who basically blew their chances by playing really badly towards the end.
So near and yet so far will be an appropriate epitaph for the season that’s now dead and buried.
