The return of Ronaldo

Ronaldo is not ready to let the curtain fall – not yet.

Footballers at the age of 41 retire, hang up their worn out boots, and head off on a very long holiday – like Bilbo

Cristiano at 41 however showed the doubters that he was still around by scoring a brace in the match portugal won 5-0 against Uzbekistan.

Carlo Ancelloti once famously stated :

“ There’s a player more dangerous than Cristiano Ronaldo. it’s the Cristiano Ronaldo who hasn’t scored in his last match.”

Cristiano has surely proved Don Carlo right.

Before the relentless Ronaldo, there was the elegant Eusébio, who had scored 9 goals (previously the most) for portugal in the world cup…Cristiano has yet again set the bar higher. He has scored 10 goals with the possibility of more being on the way…cos he’s not done yet.

A round of applause for Nuno Mendes and Rafa Leao for their freekick and blinding blitz curler respectively.

Also deserving of praise is the Portuguese midfield maestro, Vitinha.

Watching him dance in the midfield and control the game was enthralling.

Portugal have the squad, the skill, the resilience and most importantly, the passion.

The question that arises is “how high can they soar?” (LP)
