Vozinha moves to Chile

Spain my have well won the World Cup but they still couldn’t score against Vozinha.

After that legendary performance against Spain which saw him become the oldest goalkeeper to record a clean sheet in a World Cup debut his social media follower count jumped from under 50,000 to nearly 25 million. ( Which has taken him past Iker Casillas and other extremely illustrious goal keeper names )

He has played for many clubs – Progresso in Angola, Zimbru Chisinau in Moldova, Gil Vicente in Portugal, AEL Limassol in Cyprus and AS Trencin in Slovakia, before arriving at Chaves.

His name isn’t actually Vozinha. His actual name is Josimar Jose Evora Dias. Vozinha means “little granny” in Portuguese.(He earned the nickname as a boy because he lived with his grandparents and would run home to them in tears after losing street football matches)

“When I arrived in Angola, there was another goalkeeper named Josimar, and I said, ‘I am not going to put Josimar II on the shirt’. If everyone knew me as Vozinha in Cape Verde, that’s what I would be,” he told FIFA in an interview earlier this year.

And where is he now ?

In Chile – joining yet another new club – Colo Colo .
