OK. This World Cup just got a wee bit more interesting for the Group E teams. Ghana, Italy, USA, and the Czech Republic. Gennaro Gatusso is out of the opener for Italy against Ghana on June 12 sustaining a thigh injury and he may also be ruled unfit to take the field in the Italy- USA match on June 17.
The Italian squad squad will also not play full back Gianluca Zambrotta for the Ghana opener. Alessandro Nesta and Francesco Totti’s fitness is also raising concerns for coach Marcelo Lippi.
Gattuso’s absence will be a big blow as he is their defensive medio who dictates the pace of the Italian game as they forge ahead or fall behind.
