  1. Am I the only one who has a problem with Fox Soccer Channel having a monopoly on the Gold Cup (and soccer in the US in general)? Sure I’d love to get it, but that means buying a whole freaking package of channels from the cable company instead of just the one channel. And it’s not like out in the suburbs that there’s a bar around to watch a game so I missed the US vs Panama match (thanks Fox!). And I’m all for duel casting a game on an english and spanish language channel, but today’s Mex vs Costa Rica game is only on a spanish channel. Is soccer so unpopular in the US that CONCACAF didn’t even try and get on non-pay-per-view ESPN 1,2,3,4 or 5 (or was that ESPN’s call not to pick up soccer)? I mean, bad enough that the advertising for soccer is so crap, but if it’s so inaccessible to viewers anyway, why bother, right? Well, back to watching a thrilling round of darts, cards or billiards on espn. Enjoy today’s soccer match. I guess I’ll get the score online after the fact…

  3. Bsoccer
I feel your pain. It is hard to see any other match other than the US team matches. And the announcers in the US vs Panama match were already celebrating the US win even though there were a good 10-12 minutes left. Sure enough, Blas Perez pulled one back and things got very quiet all of a sudden. So the CONCACAF coverage is spotty and to top it all, awfully biased too.

  4. And, as glad as I am that at least it is on Fox, so we at least get to watch SOME soccer, I am not overly thrilled with the quality of the broadcasts. I know this may seem nit-picky, but the camera replays are horrible. Almost everytime there’s a questionable call relative to position, all of the replays tend to start AFTER the questionable part started. Then they show all of their wonderful little multe-angle views that add nothing. Its like the camera guys or director knows nothing about soccer.
And who’s the one guy who announces some games, not Bretos, but he’s always like a full second behind on his commentary. Like, someone takes a shot, its blocked, then he yells, “And there’s a shot on goal!”
    Oh well
