Mario Balotelli’s nifty cutback sets up Samuel Eto’o’s goal after Javier Zanetti’s excellent wingplay broke down Rubin Kazan’s defense. He then went on to hit a blistering free kick that swerved late past Sergei Ryzhikov’s hands for Inter’s second goal.
Inter looked very good for a change. The 36 year old Javier Zanetti was dangerous in his forays. Wesley Sneijder came close and Maicon’s powerful blast must have blistered the skin of Ryzhikov’s hands. Sneijder could have added to Inter’s tally but his shot hit the upright.
Kazan was no rollover and this CL campaign amply proved their skill and fighting desire. Christian Noboa’s brilliant pass threaded past many bodies found Gökdeniz Karadeniz but his shot was just tipped by Julio Cesar. Alejandro Domínguez looked good on the set pieces and through one of his corners Karadeniz came close to scoring again.
Inter joins Barcelona and Jose Mourinho gets another chance to prove his death grip on the Scudetto can be translated into some meaningful international success.

  1. Balotelli had one of the better games Ive seen him play
but enough with that FK he scored on.
People are treating it like some masterpiece when he shot it straight in the MIDDLE of the net.
    That was bad goalkeeping.
Cronaldo scored on a FK against Zurich a while back and people were claiming it was a genial goal when again it was the goalie who botched it up badly.
Give credit WHEN its due but also call a blunder for what it is.
