The AC Milan legend has a bad ankle
Van Basten mentioned fondly by the AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi rejected a move to AC Milan. He said it was a nice idea but he had other priorities.
He has a bad ankle that he needs to take care off and limping into a training camp as coach would set a bad example. Plus, he seems to enjoys retirement. However, he made a big plug for Mauro Tassotti, the long time Rossoneri coach.
” Tassotti? I think he is a great coach, a man with long experience who knows the people and culture of Milan, would surely be able to coach a team like that and the same applies to other names that I read, such as Filippo Galli.”
Can’t really say that says much. Maybe its my imagination but working under Silvio Berlusconi, is shall we say, interesting. There are many who still remember how he undermined Carlo Ancelotti’s authority last season, questioning personnel moves, transfers, and generally exhibited all round clueless and bad form in public. So while a Milan coaching job is highly attractive, the candidates should come with the knowledge that the owner is highly combustible.
