Video: Sevilla dedicates the Copa Del Rey to Puerta

Diego Capel lashes a shot past David De Gea after the ball rebounds back to him in the 4′ minute and then in the 90′ minute, Jesus Navas steals the ball and runs towards goal as Antonio Lopez fails in his attempt to tackle him. De Gea is beaten on Navas’s sidestep, and Lopez, by now back in goal tries a futile attempt to keep the ball out but it is too late.
Atletico failed in its bid to add the Copa Del Rey to its historic Europa Cup win. Sevilla meanwhile ended its season on a high note having already secured the final Champions League spot last weekend after beating Almeria in a pulsating match with one man down.
The Andalusian club then dedicated the win to Antonio Puerta, the full back who tragically died on the field three years ago of a massive heart attack. Antonio Alvarez, the Sevilla coach also prepared the team before the match by having them watch a video of Puerta score a stunning goal against Schalke in the 2006 UEFA Cup, which led them to the final, and an impressive set of titles thereafter. The attempt to fire up the team obviously worked.
