Doctor at the Etihad? Chelsea against City crash, burn, sputter and then are extinguished

Mourinho glowers at the carnage. Asmir Begovic was Chelsea’s best player today because this could have been a tonking of epic proportions. A special shout out to the replacement physio and the doctor, Steven Hughes and Chris Hughes, respectively remembering their Hippocratic Oath running onto the pitch in aid of the stricken Gary Cahill gushing from the nose and seconds later to Diego Costa with a bleeding scalp after being smashed on the head by a Fernandinho elbow. Don’t remember Mourinho screaming Filha De Putas at them from the sideline and admonishing them for being naive?

Begovic standing in for Thibaut Courtois denied Kun Aguero three times in a row and on the fourth, Aguero decided to juggle the ball around and use trickery to beat the Bosnian and it worked. He’s a special player that Kun. The beauty of it all was David Silva had more fouls called then touches on the ball. Which shows you the depth in this City side. The other two goals were a perfectly placed header by Vincent Kompany who is returning to Colossus status and Fernandinho’s whiplash of a shot blazing past Begovic from 25 yards away. With Kevin De Bruyne linked very strongly with an Etihad move, City is fast becoming the side to beat.

The Blues? Lots of possession, some good runs by Eden Hazard, but Diego Costa was left pretty adrift. Fabregas had his best moments in defense. They were too narrow and at least one or two players short in the box. John Terry was subbed off at the half and the defense has now let in 5 goals. Porous to say the least. Methinks, Abramovich’s spigot will be turned on again.
