Phillipe Coutinho came on as a second half substitute along with Roberto Firmino and they pulled off a combined rescue act by scoring a goal each – thus ensuring that Liverpool beat Stoke City 2 – 1 in what was a must win game.
The Liverpool faithful were livid with Klopp for leaving Coutinho out of the starting eleven – going so far as to question his sanity and competence.
However it turns out that Coutinho had lost 3 kg in three days and Klopp,having the best interests of his players in mind,was not sure if this was a sign of some medical malaise that could have been further aggravated by playing against Stoke.
That remains to be seen.For the now,Coutinho ended up as man of the match and Liverpool stay in the top four.
