England were chugging along to a 1 – 0 win over Italy when Federico Chiesa went down between James Tarkowski and Adam Lallana in the 85th minute or so.The ref initially called for a corner,then changed his mind and went and looked at the VAR screen before awarding a penalty.
Italy converted the penalty and some are complaining that they were cheated of a win – while others say VAR got it right.
One of the complaints about the whole VAR issue seems to be the lack of a big screen on which other folks can take a look at the replay that the referee is looking at while he looks at it.
Maybe some of the powers that be in FIFA will see the common sense getting that done to make the VAR a better process.At the moment everyone has to wait around while the ref goes and looks at a TV at the side of the pitch.That does not make for entertaining football.
