England win a penalty shootout at last

ew
For the first time in five attempts since 1996, England, thanks to Jordan Pickford, actually managed to win a penalty shootout.
And so they have reached the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time since the days when David Beckham missed a penalty.
Other illustrious goalies that went before such as Peter Shilton,David Seaman and Paul Robinson never managed to do what Pickford managed to do.
England’s World Cup attempts in 1990,1998 and 2006 ended in penalty shootout losses when they were guarding the posts.
Southgate’s faith in Pickford – in the face of flak about his having chosen a goalie who was too short – is now justified.
Highlights of England in the last 8 after a long long time.
