Rooney was named captain of his new club DC united after playing just three games with the side.
And he scored his first goal for DC United in his debut game as Captain.

That bit was the good news.
The bad news is that he got his nose broken defending a corner at the end of the and had to get five stitches.
Thankfully he did not have to play on with the broken nose because the injury took place in injury time when he banged his nose into the head of Colorado defender Axel Sjoberg.
DC won the game 2-1 but Rooney will find it painful to breathe for awhile till that nose gets back into shape.
The strange case of Rooney scoring a goal and then breaking his nose is oddly similar to bits of some ghost stories written by Woody Allen in his book called “Without Feathers”

Rooney,like Sir Arthur Nurney,disappeared from the EPL and reappeared in the MLS, and then,like Dubbs,he has broken his nose !
