The next goal came in the 11th minute of extra time,Vida scoring an easy header and Croatia would have thought that that was it.
However Fernandes, unbelievably, headed in a Russian equaliser in the last 5 minutes of extra time.

Russia’s incredible world cup dream finally came to an end – they lost 4 -3  in the penalty shootout. But they can go out with heads held high. They really did brilliantly. They could not have done more. The team, ranked lowest by FIFA and subject to mocking and ridicule by a section of their own fans before the world cup have surely made their nation proud.
