Luka Modric brought the era of the utter dominance of Messi and Ronaldo at international awards to an end.
He was elected FIFA player of the year for his performance at the World Cup and other things.
For the first time in ten years the award did not go to either Messi or Ronaldo.
He won by getting 29 percent of the votes, coming in ahead of Ronaldo (19 percent), Mohamed Salah (11.2 percent), Kylian Mbappe (10 percent) and Messi (9 percent).
