Lionel Messi announced last tuesday to a world weary of the pandemic,wildfires and Grade 4 hurricanes that there was going to be some more bad news.
He said he wanted to quit Barcelona.
He had on one famous previous occasion (when he was deep in the grip of melancholy after losing a World Cup Final) said that he would never play for Argentina again.
The man has a history of reacting very badly to bad losses.
So it remains to be seen if this is an overreaction or the real thing.
In the meantime the internet is rife with rumours…
