Italy took home the honours in match 1 of matchday 1 when they beat Turkey 3-0 in front of a home crowd.
A home crowd – large portions of which,if the video below is anything to go by- forgot Covid protocols completely every time a goal was scored.
Italy was one of countries with the highest Covid death toll around this time last year – so one can only hope that unmasked goal celebrations don’t press any Covid reset buttons.
For now anyhow – game one is over and Italy has three euro points in the kitty.
