The last time Germany beat Italy 5-2 was during World War 2 which started on the 1st of September 1939 when Hitler invaded Poland.
That historical 5-2 win took place on the 26th of November 1939 in Berlin.
Football was evidently still being played while the war took root and then raged on and went on and on and only ended in 1944.
This time its Russia that has invaded Ukraine and football is still being played.
Germany equalled their 1939 winning score over Italy.
