Ever wonder what happened to Andrea Pirlo?

“No football, no worries.”

That’s the Qatari tourism branding Andrea Pirlo is promoting nowadays. In one video he’s running bare chested through a bunch of cabanas on a beach into a man made lagoon. In another, he’s talking animatedly to a female shopkeeper in a Qatari bazaar (is that allowed?), and here he is, dowsing himself with water as tourists sandboard down dunes to the inland sea. How about a spot of windsurfing. Can you play Dama, the Qatari version of checkers. Pirlo knows how.

So its not just David Beckham or Morgan Freeman selling their souls.

Pirlo said this, “I have really enjoyed exploring Qatar. It is a beautiful country with beautiful people and has so much to offer. Whether you’re a sports fan or not, you can enjoy Qatar and experience adventure, culture and thrilling activities – I have been many times before, and I can’t wait to visit again.” I bet in his illustrious career as a playmaker, he did not think one of his long, beautifully placed, visionary passes would land this far. This time raking in beaucoup rials.
