The One Love armbands will not be seen on the pitch as FIFA threatened yellow cards for players wearing the armbands proclaiming their support for LGBT rights. The message is clear we cannot displease Qatar, the underwriters of this World Cup, clearly more important than that country’s appalling discrimination against the LGBT community.

But no worries, FIFA will allow a cookie cutter No Discrimination armband. Their designated armband.
