In distant Africa the qualifications for Afcon 2023 have been going on for some time now.The 34th edition of the tournament is scheduled to kick off in January 2024 .Why it’s being called AFCON 2023 when it is being played in 2024 is a good question.

 54 countries are competing for the 24 berths available. Senegal are the defending champions. Egypt won three straight in 2006, 2008, and 2010 but did not qualify for the last tournament despite having the king of Egypt M Salah on their team. Hence for Egypt it is a matter of great national pride to make sure that they get into the last 24 this time around.And its been so far so good for them so far.They are on top of their group with this latest 4-0 win over Malawi.
