Ronaldo’s fading flame…(and car collection)

Roberto Martinez led Portugal to 13 wins on the trot before the 2-0 loss to Slovenia recently. In all those wins they have scored 49 goals. Ronaldo has started and captained the side in all but two of those wins, scoring ten of the goals himself.

He did not play in the game before the defeat to Slovenia .Portugal won that game 5-2 ,the scoreline being and indication of the potency of their attack. Ronaldo’s return to the forward line in the game against Slovenia diminished the attacking prowess of the Portugal forward line.

Joao Cancelo said: “He is an important player and spent 15 years competing with Messi for the Ballon d’Or, but the peak of a footballer’s career is between the ages of 25 and 32. He is an important player for us, but the national team does not depend entirely on him.”

Ronaldo,of course, does not agree with this assessment and chose to blame the referee instead.

Maybe its time for him to take a break from all this relentless striving and go for a spin or two in his car collection.

…which has been recently upgraded to include a Ferrari Daytona SP3, worth a reported €2m.
