Leicester loses a legend

Leicester City will be flying their flag at half mast because club legend Jamie Vardy is moving on at last.

For 13 years he had been the club’s fearless talisman, the heart of the team, the spark behind that 2016 fairy-tale Premier League triumph and the embodiment of their will to fight on. Only Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah have scored more top-flight goals than the Sheffield-born Vardy in the past decade which is pretty darn good considering the fact that he was a player who rose from non-league obscurity.

Vardy was also the remaining link to Leicester’s title-winning squad and his departure and Leicester City’s relegation mean that the club is at a crossroads.Van Nistelrooy did not manage to cover himself with glory after managing 17 defeats in 22 games during his five months in charge.

A Vardy less future needs to be figured out. They have to manage without their GOAT.

Farewell..
