Jose may just be feeling jolly in the nick of time. His team Benfica, has not lost a match in 29 games, establishing themselves as dominant challengers in Liga Portugal.
José Mourinho is usually not jolly- never mind the season. His usual behaviour in all seasons is to be sarcastic, defensive, and emotionally exhausting for everyone within a five-mile radius of whereever he happens to be.
While managers everywhere speak about “togetherness” and “the spirit of Christmas,” Mourinho speaks of facts, respect, and why his team would be top of the league if not for referees, injuries, weather conditions, and a global conspiracy. Other managers hang ornaments; José hangs grudges.
December is peak Mourinho. The press conferences grow longer, the coat gets heavier, and the quotes become gift-wrapped classics. Somewhere between a congested fixture list and a questionable VAR call, he reminds us that he has “won more titles than all of you combined,” which is not a very jolly thing to say.

And yet, beneath the theatrics lies the truth: Mourinho makes the season brighter. Love him or loathe him, he gives us stories, drama, and lines we’ll be quoting long after the decorations come down.
So this Christmas, lets hope he gets to be jolly. Because Benfica beat Famalicão in their latest fixture and his winning streak has gone to 26.
