The Jamie Vardy story

The Ageless Legend: How Jamie Vardy Defied Football Reality

Here’s a book we can read while we wait for the World Cup to get underway..

Jamie Vardy was never supposed to make it. Born in Sheffield,Vardy dreamed of playing professional football. However he wasn’t allowed to play for his boyhood club, Sheffield Wednesday, when he turned 16 because he was told that he was just too short. 7 years later at the age of 23 he was working in a factory and playing for eighth-tier side Stocksbridge Park Steels and then later for a non league club called Fleetwood Town.

Then Leicester City happened. And it happened because in pursuit of greatness, Vardy was playing for Fleetwood Town as if his as if his life depended on it. His tally of 31 goals in 35 games helped him to make it to the premier league in 2014. He was 27 then.

Two years later ,at the age of 29 he shattered Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record by scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League matches. Led that season by Vardy’s 24 goals, Leicester City (who had been 5,000-to-1 odds to win the title just months prior) completed one of the most improbable underdog miracle stories in sports history by lifting the Premier League trophy

What’s Vardy doing these days.?

Rumour has it that he’s returning to the EPL
