Argentina crumbled to a disastrous 3 – 0 loss to Croatia and are teetering on the blink of World Cup 2018 oblivion.And we can guess who’s getting the blame.
To his credit coach Sampaoli is trying to remind everyone that it’s not all Messi’s fault.
Even Maradona is speaking up for him.
He said “When I played and had a bad game… [Jorge] Valdano, [Jorge] Burruchaga showed up and had my back. Messi has no one. It’s all on his own.”
Maradona said that it was a myth that he won the World Cup single-handedly.(there’s an unintended pun there somewhere).
He said that no player was capable of doing that and that a star can only shine when the collective balance of the team is right.
The Argentine team scraped though into the World Cup and that was mainly because of Messi.
