This seems to be the season of the impossible comeback.
First the Avengers,against all odds,defeated Thanos.
Then Liverpool came back after being three goals down to beat Barcelona.
And now Tottenham Spurs have done it.They too were down 3 – 0 before the half time whistle was blown. (One goal from the first leg and Ajax scored two more)
By all rights the game should have been over.
But yet another incredible comeback was going to be scripted.
Spurs came back to win the game 3- 2 and go through on away goals – Lucas Moura scoring all three goals – the last in the 95th minute.
Another mission impossible accomplished.
And distraught Dutch faces streamed with tears because they had lost the chance to make it to a first Champions League final since 1996.
How they managed to lose after beating Juventus and Real Madrid and after being 3- 0 up in the first half is one of these imponderable mysteries that Barcelona are also currently pondering.
