Jonathan David’s hat trick

Messi started off with a hat trick and Jonathan David said ” Well if he can do it – then so can I “And he did.

And in doing so he caused several remakable things to happen.

The 6-0 eventual scoreline was the biggest-ever win for a CONCACAF team.

The score also tied the all-time record for biggest win by a host nation at a Cup. (Argentina beat Peru 6-0 in Buenos Aires in 1978 – a and thats a game that incidentally is remembered as being highly controversial )

It was the first hat trick scored by a canadian at the world cup. The previous record that Canada held was that they were the only nation to participate in the World Cup without managing to score a single goal. So Jonathan’s record is definitely much better !

The icing on the cake is that its the first time a host-nation player has scored three times since 1966. The feat was last achieved by Geoff Hurst in 1966 – the only time England have ever won the World Cup ( with the help of that very controversial Russian Linesman) – the most famous linesman of all time.

CanĀ  Alphonso davies captain this passion-filled squad to further glory??

Time will tell ( LP)
