Bourton Rovers Football Club hosts one of the most unique and entertaining traditions in the world – an annual Football in the River event.The match takes place in the shallow river running through Bourton-on-the-Water, where Bourton Rovers players swap the football pitch for ankle-deep water. It is less football and more aquatic comedy. There is plenty of laughter, chaos and the occasional goal! Serious business as well, The losers have to treat the winners to a pint of beer at the pub.
